Objective 2: IMPROVED DATA SHARING

Develop standards, guidelines and procedures for sharing geographic information among organizations. Utilize existing national standards where appropriate.

Priority Action Item:

Develop guidelines for using Framework data as a base for adding new information, which address: technical specifications, data stewardship and distribution policy.

Description of Project:

Prepare a common set of procedures and guidelines that data stewards and framework participants will follow when:

    1. Adding and updating data
    2. Performing QA/QC
    3. Establishing organizational roles and responsibilities
    4. Providing public access to data

Establish procedures for data integration from multiple data sources in one place and procedures for data update

Access to data is worked out and the procedures and mechanisms are established for:

  • Levels and types of access
  • Hardware specifications/tools specification

Mechanism for on-going data maintenance and managing data concurrency will be formally established and documented. There will be a loop back to physical theme(s) data design(s)
