March 17, 1997
Dear Washington Framework Management Participant:
The next Washington Framework Management Meeting is scheduled for April 29, 1997 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the United Churches on the corner of 11th Ave. and Washington St., in Olympia, Washington. The afternoon part of the Framework Management Meeting will be set aside to explore the potential for interested parties to embark on a cooperative hydrography data framework effort.
The Department of Ecology and the Department of Natural Resources are working on keying it's environmental and natural resource data to a standard hydrography spatial data layer. In order to do this, we need a data layer that adheres to a common set of standards, that is free of spatial errors, and carries an associated feature based unique identifier. Presently, neither has the resources to meet this statewide need, but is interested in leveraging it's existing resources in a collaborative partnership with other organizations and interested parties.
Ecology and DNR envision the following benefits from such a cooperative effort:
During the meeting, Lynn Singleton will facilitate a discussion to see if there's interest in such an effort and to explore a future course of action for Washington state hydrography data users. If you have any questions please contact Joy Denkers at (360) 407-7128.
Sincerely,
Lynn Singleton, Project Manager Larry Sugarbaker, Asst. Division Manager
